Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1/3 cup water
1 cup sour cream
1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (10 oz)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 cups Fritos corn chips
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, green onions, jalapeños
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain the grease.
3. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
4. Remove from heat and mix in sour cream and diced tomatoes with green chilies.
5. In a 9×13 glass baking dish, spread half of the Fritos on the bottom.
6. Layer the beef mixture evenly over the chips.
7. Top with shredded cheese and remaining Fritos.
8. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
10. Top with desired toppings before serving.
Notes
Don’t skip the Fritos—they provide the crunch and salty bite that completes the dish.
Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before serving to help it set and keep layers intact.
Grate your own cheese for a smoother, better melt than pre-shredded varieties.
