Description

These Raspberry Heart Danishes are the perfect blend of easy recipe meets elegant brunch treat. Buttery puff pastry hearts are filled with sweet-tart raspberry jam and smooth cream cheese, making them an irresistible choice for a quick breakfast, brunch party, or holiday baking idea. Whether you’re seeking breakfast ideas that are simple but look fancy or food ideas to impress with minimal effort, this flaky, golden danish checks all the boxes.

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry

4 oz cream cheese

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 teaspoons raspberry jam

1 egg

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let the puff pastry thaw until pliable but still cold.

2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

3. Unfold puff pastry and cut out 8 large hearts using a 3 to 4-inch cookie cutter. Cut a smaller heart out of half the pieces to create a frame.

4. Place the base hearts on the baking sheet. Add 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling and 1/2 teaspoon of raspberry jam to each.

5. Brush edges with beaten egg and place a frame heart over each filled base. Lightly press edges to seal.

6. Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.

7. Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

Use a sharp cookie cutter for clean heart shapes and easier assembly.

Keep puff pastry cold until you’re ready to shape and bake for best puff.

You can swap in different jams or even lemon curd for a unique twist.
