This easy recipe uses instant yeast to speed up rise time without sacrificing flavor. Great for food ideas when you’re short on time but still want something homemade and delicious.
Ingredients
1 cup whole milk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1 large egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Warm the milk, butter, and sugar together until butter is melted and mixture is lukewarm.
2. Pour into a mixing bowl, add instant yeast, and stir. Let sit briefly, then mix in the egg.
3. Add flour and salt gradually, then knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
5. Divide dough into 8 large rolls and place on a greased baking pan.
6. Let rest for 15–20 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F.
7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden on top. Brush with butter if desired.
Notes
Use whole milk for richness and softness—don’t substitute with water.
Make sure the milk mixture is lukewarm, not hot, or it will kill the yeast.
To reheat leftovers, microwave for 10 seconds or warm in foil in the oven.
