Whether you’re hunting for quick breakfast ideas, healthy-ish snacks, or satisfying dinner desserts, this one fits the bill. No mixer needed, minimal prep, and loads of flavor — all baked in one pot.
Ingredients
6 cups sliced apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch slices. Toss with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
2. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
3. Add cold butter to the oat mixture and cut in until coarse crumbs form.
4. Lightly butter the Dutch oven, add apple mixture, then sprinkle topping evenly over apples.
5. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45–50 minutes, until topping is golden and apples are bubbling.
6. Let cool 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use only rolled oats for the right texture — quick oats will turn mushy.
Letting it cool before serving helps everything set and gives better structure.
If topping browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil halfway through baking.
