Ideal for anyone searching for easy dinner ideas, comfort food recipes, or family-friendly meals. A flavorful choice for weeknight cooking or special occasions alike.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup minced onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon oil for searing

2 tablespoons butter

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, minced onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.

2. Shape into 4 oval patties about 3/4 inch thick and let rest for a few minutes.

3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties on each side for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

4. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook for 8-10 minutes until golden and soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

5. Sprinkle in flour and stir until it forms a paste. Slowly whisk in beef broth while scraping up browned bits from the pan.

6. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Simmer until the gravy begins to thicken.

7. Return the patties to the skillet and nestle them into the gravy. Cover and simmer on low for 15 minutes until fully cooked.

8. Serve hot with generous spoonfuls of onion gravy over each steak.

Notes

Don’t overmix the beef mixture—just until it holds together.

Use a heavy skillet or cast iron for the best sear and flavor.

Thinly slicing the onions ensures they melt smoothly into the gravy.
