Description

Bold, rich, and full of umami, this Homemade Hoisin Sauce is a must-have condiment for quick dinners, healthy snacks, and creative food ideas. With a perfectly balanced blend of peanut butter, soy sauce, molasses, and garlic, it’s the ideal quick fix when you want that deep, savory-sweet Asian BBQ flavor at home. Whether you’re after a stir-fry enhancer, dipping sauce, or easy dinner glaze, this easy recipe is your go-to.

Ingredients

1/4 cup smooth peanut butter

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons molasses

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

1 clove garlic, minced

2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

1–2 teaspoons warm water (optional, to thin)

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, combine smooth peanut butter, soy sauce, molasses, and rice vinegar. Whisk until smooth.

2. Add honey, minced garlic, toasted sesame oil, and Chinese five spice powder to the mixture. Whisk well until fully blended.

3. Adjust consistency with warm water if needed, stirring until the desired texture is reached.

4. Transfer the sauce to a clean jar or container with a tight lid.

5. Use immediately or refrigerate for a few hours to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Always use unsweetened, unsalted peanut butter for better control of flavor.

Fresh garlic gives a stronger, more vibrant taste than garlic powder.

Letting the sauce sit in the fridge for 30 minutes enhances the depth of flavor.
