Ingredients
2 large eggs
1 box vanilla cake mix (15.25 oz)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Green gel food coloring (to desired color)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
24 red heart candies or sprinkles
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the vanilla cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil until well combined.
3. Add green gel food coloring and stir until the dough is evenly colored.
4. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into balls.
5. Coat each dough ball generously in powdered sugar.
6. Place dough balls on the baking sheet 2 inches apart.
7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are set but centers are still soft.
8. Let cookies cool for 2-3 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
9. While still warm, press one red heart candy into the center of each cookie.
10. Cool completely before storing or serving.
Notes
Use gel food coloring for vibrant green without thinning the dough.
Don’t overbake; cookies continue cooking on the tray after removing from oven.
Add a slice of bread to the storage container to keep cookies soft for days.
