Description

Easy Peppermint Chocolate Cheesecake is a rich and creamy holiday dessert with a chocolate cookie crust, a smooth chocolate cheesecake filling, and a cool peppermint finish. It is an easy recipe that works beautifully for Christmas dessert tables, winter parties, and make-ahead dessert planning when you need festive food ideas that feel special without being complicated.

Ingredients

24 chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

24 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 cup sour cream

8 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and slightly cooled

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup whipped cream, for topping

1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies, for topping

1/4 cup chocolate ganache or chocolate drizzle, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease a 9-inch springform pan and wrap the outside with foil if using a water bath.

2. Mix the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies with the melted butter until the crumbs look evenly moistened.

3. Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 8 minutes, then let the crust cool completely.

4. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.

5. Add the granulated sugar and mix until fully combined.

6. Blend in the sour cream, melted chocolate, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract until the filling looks smooth.

7. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed just until combined after each addition.

8. Pour the filling over the cooled crust and smooth the top.

9. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until the edges are set and the center still has a slight wobble.

10. Turn off the oven, crack the oven door, and let the cheesecake cool inside for 30 minutes.

11. Remove the cheesecake and cool completely at room temperature.

12. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, until fully set.

13. Top with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, and chocolate drizzle before serving.

14. Slice with a warm knife and serve chilled.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese, eggs, and sour cream for the smoothest cheesecake filling.

Do not overmix after adding the eggs, or the cheesecake can puff too much and crack.

Add the crushed peppermint topping just before serving so it stays crisp and bright.
