Description

This Easy Pecan Pie Bark is a quick dessert with crisp crackers, buttery brown sugar caramel, and toasted pecans in every bite. It is perfect for holiday baking, Thanksgiving dessert, Christmas candy trays, easy food gifts, party desserts, quick sweet snacks, and simple dessert ideas when you want pecan pie flavor without making a full pie.

Ingredients

40 saltine crackers

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, optional

1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single even layer on the prepared baking sheet.

3. Add the butter and brown sugar to a saucepan over medium heat and stir until melted and smooth.

4. Let the mixture bubble gently for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often so it does not burn.

5. Remove the pan from the heat, then stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and chopped pecans.

6. Pour the pecan mixture evenly over the crackers and spread it gently with a spatula.

7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the topping is bubbling and the pecans smell toasted.

8. If using chocolate chips, sprinkle them over the hot bark, let them soften for 2 minutes, then spread gently.

9. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.

10. Let the bark cool completely, then break it into pieces and serve.

Notes

Let the bark cool completely before breaking it so the caramel layer can set properly.

Use parchment paper instead of wax paper because the bark bakes in the oven.

For cleaner layers, store the pieces between sheets of parchment paper in an airtight container.
