Description

Blueberry Cream Cheese Croissant Casserole is a rich, buttery breakfast bake that turns simple ingredients into one of the best brunch ideas for weekends and holidays. With flaky croissants, juicy blueberries, creamy pockets of cream cheese, and a smooth vanilla custard, this easy recipe is perfect for a quick breakfast, cozy breakfast ideas, sweet breakfast casserole, and crowd-pleasing food ideas when you want something warm, soft, and bakery-style.

Ingredients

6 large croissants, torn into pieces

8 oz cream cheese, cubed

1 1/2 cups blueberries

6 large eggs

1 1/2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

2 tbsp powdered sugar, for topping

maple syrup, for serving optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish well.

2. Tear the croissants into large pieces and spread half of them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

3. Scatter half of the cream cheese cubes and half of the blueberries over the croissant layer.

4. Add the remaining croissant pieces, then top with the rest of the cream cheese and blueberries.

5. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until fully smooth.

6. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant layers, making sure the top pieces are lightly moistened.

7. Gently press the croissants down with the back of a spoon so they absorb some of the custard.

8. Let the casserole sit for 15 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight for a make-ahead breakfast.

9. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is set but still soft.

10. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

11. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Use day-old croissants if possible because they soak up the custard better and give the casserole the best texture.

If using frozen blueberries, add them straight from the freezer so they hold their shape better in the bake.

For the cleanest slices, let the casserole rest for at least 10 minutes after baking before serving.
