Description
This Better Than KFC Copycat Coleslaw is a quick side dish with finely chopped cabbage, carrots, and a creamy sweet-tangy dressing that tastes like the classic restaurant favorite. It is an easy recipe for cookouts, potlucks, family dinners, barbecue nights, fried chicken meals, and fresh side dish ideas when you need something cool, crunchy, and make-ahead friendly.
Ingredients
8 cups finely chopped green cabbage
1/4 cup finely shredded carrot
2 tablespoons finely minced yellow onion
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup whole milk
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Finely chop the cabbage into small pieces and place it in a large mixing bowl.
2. Add the shredded carrot and minced onion to the cabbage, then toss gently to combine.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, whole milk, sugar, white vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
4. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and fold until everything is evenly coated.
5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
6. Stir well before serving and serve cold.
Notes
Chop the cabbage very finely for the closest restaurant-style texture.
Chill the coleslaw for at least 4 hours so the dressing can soften the cabbage and blend with the vegetables.
Stir before serving because the dressing may settle at the bottom as the cabbage releases moisture.
