Description

These French Onion Beef Sloppy Joes are the ultimate easy dinner idea that takes the rich, savory flavor of French onion soup and turns it into the most crave-worthy sandwich. Perfect for a quick dinner, cozy weeknight meal, or a fun twist on classic comfort food. This is a hearty, satisfying, and seriously juicy food idea that delivers on flavor and texture.

Ingredients

1.5 pounds ground beef

2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

4 slices provolone cheese

4 brioche buns

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add butter and olive oil. Once melted, add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until golden and caramelized.

2. Push onions to one side of the skillet and add ground beef. Cook until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

3. Stir the onions and beef together. Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and pour in the beef broth. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.

4. While the meat simmers, toast the brioche buns in a skillet or under a broiler until golden and crisp on the inside.

5. Scoop generous portions of the beef-onion mixture onto each bun, top with provolone cheese, and briefly broil or torch to melt the cheese. Serve hot.

Notes

Let the onions cook low and slow—this is key to building deep flavor.

Use a wooden spoon to really break the beef down and help it mingle with the onions.

To make ahead, prepare the meat mixture in advance and just reheat and assemble when ready to serve.
