Description
If comfort food had a cozy, slow-simmered champion, Crock Pot Cube Steak would wear the crown. This recipe transforms simple pantry ingredients into melt-in-your-mouth steak smothered in rich, savory gravy with minimal effort and maximum flavor. With tenderized cube steaks, caramelized onions, and creamy mushroom gravy, it’s the kind of meal that hugs you back after a long day.
Ingredients
4 cube steaks
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
2 tablespoons cold water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
1. Slice the onion and layer it in the bottom of the crock pot.
2. Place the cube steaks on top of the onions in a single layer.
3. In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
4. Pour the sauce mixture over the steaks in the crock pot.
5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3.5–4 hours until steaks are fork-tender.
6. For a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir it in during the last 30 minutes on HIGH.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or thyme to the gravy mix.
You can double the gravy mixture if serving with lots of mashed potatoes or rice.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
