Ingredients
2 racks baby back ribs (about 4 pounds total)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet with foil.
2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat dry.
3. In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon black pepper.
4. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over both racks of ribs, coating both sides.
5. Place ribs on the prepared baking sheet and cover tightly with foil.
6. Bake for 2 hours and 30 minutes until tender.
7. Remove foil and brush 1 cup of the barbecue sauce evenly over the ribs.
8. Return to oven uncovered and bake for 20 minutes.
9. Brush remaining 1/2 cup barbecue sauce over ribs and bake an additional 10 minutes until caramelized.
10. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Removing the membrane ensures the ribs become tender and not chewy.
Bake low and slow and avoid increasing temperature.
For extra caramelization, broil for 2 to 3 minutes at the end while watching carefully.
