Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry thawed

8 ounces cream cheese softened

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup fresh blueberries

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 large egg

1 tablespoon water

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

2 teaspoons milk

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

3. In another bowl toss blueberries with cornstarch and lemon juice until evenly coated.

4. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into 8 equal squares.

5. Score a smaller square inside each pastry without cutting through the dough.

6. Divide cream cheese mixture evenly among the centers of all 8 pastries.

7. Top evenly with the blueberry mixture.

8. Whisk egg and water together and brush the edges of each pastry.

9. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.

10. Whisk powdered sugar and milk together and drizzle over slightly cooled danishes before serving.

Notes

Use cold puff pastry for the best rise and flakiest texture.

If using frozen blueberries do not thaw them before mixing with cornstarch.

For extra flavor add a small amount of lemon zest to the cream cheese mixture.
