Whether you’re looking for quick breakfast ideas, fall brunch inspiration, or a kid-friendly food idea, these waffles are a hit. Top them with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with caramel for a heavenly twist on breakfast. It’s one of those easy recipes that feels like a treat but comes together without fuss.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/3 cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 3/4 cups milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 medium apples, peeled and finely diced

1 tablespoon butter (for sautéing apples)

1 tablespoon brown sugar (for sautéing apples)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for sautéing apples)

Instructions

1. Peel and finely dice the apples. Sauté them in a pan with 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon for about 5 minutes until tender. Set aside to cool.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and brown sugar. Stir until smooth.

4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined. Fold in the cooled sautéed apples.

5. Preheat and lightly grease your waffle iron.

6. Scoop batter into the waffle iron and cook until golden and crisp, about 4-5 minutes per waffle.

7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, fresh apple slices, and caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

Use fresh apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji for the best texture and flavor.

Always sauté the apples before adding to the batter for that deep, caramelized taste.

Don’t skip preheating your waffle iron—hot iron = crisp edges and even cooking.
